1111"Le Stanze del Vetro" Omaggio a Zecchin 11 settembre 2017_7 gennaio 2018 alla Fondazione Cini
It will be dedicated to Vittorio Zecchin, an artist who, in the 1920s, reinterpreted the classicity to revitalize and modernize Murano, the "Le Stanze del Vetro" autumn exhibition at the Fondazione Cini in Venice. The exhibition, from September 11 to January 7, edited by Marino Barovier, is a refined production of 250 monochrome blown glass works, realized when the painter was artistic director for VSM Cappellin Venini & C. (1921-25) before, and for MVM Cappellin & C. then (1925-26). Murano's artist and painter, son of a technical vetter, Zecchin (1878-1947) was a protagonist of the glass of the twentieth century, which contributed decisively to a modernization of glass production in the 1920s, being present on the market with the support of two enlightened entrepreneurs like Giacomo Cappellin and Paolo Venini: blown monocromas with forms of great elegance that reinterpreted classicism, often inspired by the glasswork of the sixteenth century or the glasses on the paintings of Venetian painters of the sixteenth century. Among the glasses of the classic lines we will find the famous vase called "Veronese" which originates from a model present in the great sixteenth-century canvas of L'Annunciazione, painted by the same painter and preserved at the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice.
The inauguration of "Vittorio Zecchin: Transparent Glasses for Cappellin and Venini" will be the opening event of the first edition of The Venice Glass Week, the first international festival dedicated to glass art, with particular regard to Murano, Which will be held in Venice from 10 to 17 September 2017. The initiative is promoted by the City of Venice and conceived by three of the main Venetian cultural institutions: the Venice Civic Museums Foundation, Giorgio Cini Foundation, Veneto Institute of Science, Letter and Arts, And by the Consorzio Promovetro Murano, manager of the Veneto Region's Veneto Artistic Murano Glass (protected by trademark).
There are more than 100 realities, for a total of over 140 events including exhibitions, conferences, seminars, educational activities and open furnaces that will take part in The Venice Glass Week.
